Out of the explosion came an unhurt Syn. He seemed to have used sheer speed to get away from it. He was right beside Mizu in an instant and aimed his zanpakuto at his back.

Mizu alters the oxygen into water again, and freezes the particles into an Ice shield, blocking the attack effectively. He then dodge rolls away and aims 100's of Ice needles at the man with speed and precision. He then warp the first 100 needles into steam to disguise the needles, allowing a blocked vision and attempting to burn him.

Syn smiled at the combo and was behind Mizu in that same instant, slicing down with his blade. It seemed that Mizu didn't quite understand the reason Syn was the 2nd squad captain.

Syn was fast but speed alone wouldn't and can't beat Mizu, it would take some skills. The sword simply hit another Kido barrier allowing Mizu to do a handstand and fire 1000's of needles towards the man with his left blade and balancing with his right. Mizu can track spiritual energy, so a simple flash step movement won't catch him off guard easily.

(I didn't flash step, that was sheer speed. Also where did these needles come from?)
